Darren Toh
COO
Operational Integration, Communications Strategy & Product Development
Darren brings over 20 years of experience across business strategy, product development, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability advisory. He has worked with governments, corporates, investors, and project developers across APAC and internationally to embed climate and sustainability initiatives into core strategy, operations, capital planning, and external communications.
Darren has also co-founded and successfully launched six businesses across carbon, sustainability, and pioneer technologies. With deep expertise in operational implementation, product development, technology integration, and strategic narrative-building, Darren ensures Blak’s technical work — from carbon assessments to project design — translates into actionable decisions, organisational alignment, and credible external positioning.
Mark Harding
Founder & CEO
Carbon, Sustainability & Nature Strategy, Project Development & Delivery
Mark works at the intersection of environment and business, advising on carbon, climate, NBS, environmental law, and sustainability. He focuses on biodiversity and primary habitat preservation throughout APAC, Australasia, and the world.
He has over 20 years experience leading the design, feasibility assessment, validation, verification, and implementation of large-scale carbon and biodiversity projects. His experience spans sustainability transformation initiatives, high-integrity nature-based and industrial carbon projects, biodiversity programs, certification under international standards, and environmental litigation. He focuses on delivery excellence, environmental integrity, and long-term viability.
His work is execution-focused: helping clients move from analysis and compliance to delivery, and real-world impact.
Matt Bailey
Technical Lead
Carbon Modelling, Spatial Analysis & Ecological Monitoring
Matt is a technical specialist in carbon and ecological monitoring, with deep technical expertise in carbon modelling, forest carbon modelling, and spatial analysis. Matts uses cutting edge technologies to quantify and forecast forest carbon including LiDAR, machine learning, and satellite-based monitoring. He works across a wide range of carbon and biodiversity projects as a technical expert to deliver tailored technical analyses for project development, reporting, and compliance.
Matt supports the delivery of technically defensible assessments and strategies for complex modelling and monitoring challenges. Matt’s work ensures Blak’s outputs are accurate, consistent, auditable, aligned with evolving regulatory and best-practice requirements and leverage technology where possible, supporting high-confidence decision-making and long-term continuity for clients.
Putri Handayani
Community Lead
Social Impact, Community & Safeguards
Putri is a senior social impact and sustainability specialist with over 14 years on-the-ground experience delivering community-based climate, carbon, and infrastructure projects across SE Asia. She brings deep expertise in social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and integrating human rights and community considerations into project design and delivery. Putri’s expertise is in on-the-ground real world work interfacing and working with communities in complex social environments with pragmatism and the highest ethical conduct.
Putri has worked extensively across Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, supporting projects aligned with IFC, World Bank, ADB, CCB, and HCV standards. Her experience spans baseline studies, social due diligence, land tenure, livelihood analysis, safeguard planning, audit, and ongoing monitoring across sectors. Her focus is on delivery of socially credible, locally grounded carbon and sustainability outcomes. She ensures community considerations are embedded, risks identified and managed proactively, and projects are aligned with international best practice.
