Mark has spent his career at the intersection of the environment and business and advises on carbon, climate and sustainability matters with a focus on the preservation of biodiversity, throughout Asia Pacific and the world.

Educated in marine ecology and law and fluent in Mandarin, Mark has spent the last 20 years working across Australasia and Asia Pacific in law, climate and sustainability.  Mark also has experience in New Zealand working as a resource management lawyer, across a variety of infrastructure and land use projects representing both developers and local government authorities.

Mark is a pioneer in the carbon and sustainability space being involved since 2007.  Mark has been involved in the development of nature based and industrial projects worldwide leading project development, validation and verification.  Mark has also led a number of biodiversity and community benefit projects and initiatives.

In addition, Mark has helped many clients develop their sustainability, climate and carbon reduction programs and reporting frameworks and advised on aspects of sustainability related to their operations.  
 

Great Barrier Reef

Recently, Blak assisted a leading Queensland Marine Operator to develop its carbon emissions reduction strategy for its vessels and operations to meet Australian Government net zero requirements.
